On September 13, Dongfang Electronics Co., Ltd., together with Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) and the University of Macao, held a plaque unveiling and cooperation agreement signature ceremony for the "Digital Intelligence-Empowered New Power Distribution Technology Joint Laboratory" at the CEM Training Center. The joint laboratory will promote the interchange and practical application of power distribution technologies in Macau's power system, drive the upgrade and transformation of the power industry, assist in building a smart and green city in Macau, and align with the "dual carbon" goals of the country. The cooperation agreement for the joint laboratory was signed by Song Yonghua, Rector of University of Macao; Bernie Leong, Chairman of CEM Executive Committee and Fang Zhengji, Chairman of Dongfang Electronics.
Subsequently, the plaque for the ceremony was unveiled by Song Yonghua; Bernie Leong; Fang Zhengji, Ma Shaodan, Associate Director of the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City of University of Macau; Zhang Jian, Executive Director of CEM Executive Committee; and Xie Jianguo, General Manager of Yantai Dongfang Wisdom Electric Co., Ltd.
Mr. Fang Zhengji said in his speech that Dongfang Electronics will seek closer cooperation with the other two sides by taking the joint laboratory as an opportunity, continue to increase investment in the research and application of new digital intelligence technology for power distribution, act as a bridge linking with research of high-precision technology of University of Macau and high-quality demonstration of CEM in an effort to contribute its wisdom and strength to the high-quality innovation and development of the new power system in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and even in the country as a whole.
The joint laboratory will conduct research on the digitalization and intelligence of new power distribution technologies for the whole chain of industry, academia, research and application, including multi-dimensional digital twin technology for power distribution system, safety early warning, emergency command, as well as low-voltage digitized and transparent distribution areas and other topics, in order to further build a more flexible, low-carbon and highly electrified digital power grid in Macao, thus improving the safety of electricity consumption and service quality, and boosting the city's green and sustainable development.
